SleepEx LabRetriever takes time during each holiday season to give pause for reflection. We think about the year that has passed, our accomplishments with customers and vendors, and consider how we will approach the new year.
Part of this process includes remembering our co-founder by choosing what other companies would call “Employee of the Year”. All SleepEx LabRetriever employees cast their vote for one person who represents what Wally Carruthers set out to accomplish with our company. He was the Co-founder and Chairman of SleepEx, well known and respected in the Sleep Industry, a devoted family man, beloved community leader and someone with a clear vision for his company.
In September of 2008, Wally passed away leaving the sleep industry and the company deeply saddened. Our team has since dedicated the development of our software, level of customer service, and commitment to one another to exemplify his vision:
“We will build great products, provide excellent customer support and make SleepEx a good and fun place to work, and then we will be successful.”
Please join us in congratulating Chief Operating Officer, Cheryl Harner for winning the 2014 Wally Award!! Cheryl has been employed with us over 10 years and has worked tirelessly to ensure that not only our product continues to evolve with our industry needs, but our team maintains a standard of excellence.
Cheryl came to SleepEx with an extensive clinical background (electroneurodiagnostics) and a 13-yr proven history as a Product Manager for PSG diagnostic devices (Telefactor Corporation & Astromed/Grass Technologies). At SleepEx, Cheryl worked first as the Manager of Product Development & Marketing, was promoted to Vice President in 2009 and then to Chief Operating Officer in 2014.
In addition to her clinical and management experience, Cheryl has been active in the technical community, serving as an examiner for the American Board Registration of EEG Technologists, a frequent lecturer for the American Society of EEG Technologists, a site reviewer for JRC Accreditation and was on the faculty of Widener University/Crozier-Chester Medical Center where she developed an on-line course for EEG/PSG technology students. Aside from the day-to-day operations of the business, she ensures consistency in communication between all departments, acts as product manager, and develops good relationships with vendors, customers and partners.
Cheryl took time after accepting the award from Board Chairman, Roy Hathcock to talk about how the company has been successful due to the hard work of every employee, not just one. She modestly admitted she was happy to receive the honor, but stressed it’s an award worthy of the team and their ability to work together. We love having having Cheryl at the helm and look forward to even more success with her in 2015. Company Controller, Wendy Chenworth had this to say:
“Our LabRetriever team is more than just a group of people who come to their job every day. We’re a close ‘family’ that welcomes challenges along with successes and Cheryl, well, she is our Matriarch. Her overwhelming dedication and ability to continuously guide us toward improvement in product and customer service is something I personally admire. I strive to model her strong work-ethic and belief that we should hold ourselves to a higher standard in order to give our customers the best experience possible.”
