REPORTING FOR SUCCESS

Patient care involves more than office visits, sleep studies, diagnosis and treatment.  Those things are definitely key to ensuring successful outcomes, but they are just pieces of a larger puzzle and don’t tell the whole story when it comes to the success of a sleep business. In the midst of tougher reimbursement rules and changing regulations, the industry is in need of finding better and faster ways of ensuring quality care.  Let’s also not forget the bottom-line.  Simply put, a lab needs to make money to keep its doors open.  That’s where accurate, strong reporting can make all the difference.

It’s time to start thinking about the puzzle as a whole and figure out what additional pieces need to be put in place for success. Each basic element of patient care I mentioned creates information that can be stored in a database. Collectively, the data can be used to manage efficiencies, keep track of the sleep cycle, and monitor the success of patient outcomes.  Using sleep lab management software like LabRetriever, you can eliminate all of the heavy lifting.  With just a few simple clicks to render reports with exactly the information you want to see. Essentially, there are four different types of reports sleep labs and lab management companies use; lists, management, interpretation and outcomes. Let’s take a moment to explore each in more depth.

LISTS:  The most basic of LabRetriever reports give employees a leg-up when it comes to keeping track of daily tasks.  All a scheduler needs to do is pull up the ‘To Be Scheduled’ list and start making calls.  Have multiple sites and several schedulers? No problem.  You decide what sites they see, eliminating confusion and avoiding duplicate work.

MANAGEMENT REPORTS:  Also known as numeric reports, these little gems are the ones that get you the numbers you need for assessing each area of the sleep cycle.  Want to know how many of each type of  study were performed at all of your locations? Choose the ‘Test by Location’ report and click ‘Run’.  What could be easier than that?

PATIENT OUTCOMES:  Create your own reports to evaluate the most important aspect of your business.  “Did the patient get better?”  Increasingly, tracking patient outcomes and reporting on your results is essential to ensuring your success.  Whether it’s demonstrating to patients, insurance companies or accreditation agencies, your ability to measure how well you’re treating patients is the key.

INTERPRETATION REPORTS:  Our new interpretation templates make it easy for doctors to create the cornerstone of lab reports.  They are doctor specific and entirely customizable.  Information is pulled right from the sleep study or database and placed in the document exactly where the physician wants to see it.  They can add notes, digitally sign and send immediately to the referring physician right from the LabRetriever interface.
